Abstract:
Today’s societies face increasing health care costs due to a growing world population, an aging society, and rising prices for health care. A new breed of health care entrepreneurs tries to conceive new ways to deliver health care. One area in which entrepreneurial ventures seek to revolutionize today’s health care is workplace health, providing electronic solutions over the internet. This study sets out to explore whether and how an eWorkplaceHealth program can disrupt the market. The findings—based on an explorative single case study—suggest that eWorkplaceHealth is a disruptive business model that may have already ‘overshot’ the product performance of traditional workplace health.
