Abstract:
Patient safety is increasingly threatened by healthcare-associated infections. To cope with this threat, insight into the occurrence of such infections is paramount. We used a holistic approach for the user-centered and persuasive development of a system for the registration of healthcare-associated infections in nursing homes. To do so, we combined multiple methods (literature search, expert discussion, questionnaire, interviews and scenario-based user-tests), closely cooperating with end-users. This study shows why involving end-users in all stages of development is of paramount importance for the creation of successful eHealth technologies.
