Abstract:
This paper demonstrates the potential of natural language processing for extracting patient-related data from very big repositories of semi-structured patient records. We mine 37.9 million outpatient records, extract risk factors and show how to integrate the findings in a system that enables effective diabetes prevention. The findings show the weak points in the organisation of primary care and specialised outpatient care in Bulgaria.
