Abstract:
This paper outlines some of the challenging issues faced by traditional healthcare services in Saudi Arabia (SA) covering a relatively large geographical area including remote areas requiring healthcare facilities similar to urban areas. There are also issues of shortages of healthcare professionals together with an increase of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases etc. Many initiatives have been undertaken to reform healthcare systems including e-Health and the concept of Cloud Computing. This paper discusses some of the issues for e-health projects and how Cloud Computing will help in solving some of these issues. Then, the paper proposes a strategic framework for Cloud Computing decision making processes based on a Holistic Approach Framework for use in Saudi Arabia to assist in improvements for stakeholders involved in healthcare services.
