Olocau’s Heritage in Action. A proposal

development engine to the village of Olocau

Abstract
Rural heritage as a tourism resource and driving force for sustainable
development has generated a growing awareness of the value of heritage,
not only in the territorial infrastructures that underpin the countryside and
the mountains, but from the cultural institutions that advise and provide
for the conservation of rural heritage. This article presents an abbreviated
version of the final project for the UPV official masters in Conservation
and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. This paper depicts a proposal for the
appropriate musealization of the space known as Casa de la Senyoria in
Olocau (Valencia). The creation of a musealization proposal for this space
implies enhancing and adding value to Olocau’s ethnological rural heritage,
since it will be the first time that we study, analyze and evaluate the Casa
de la Senyoria as a whole and not by parts, while taking into account the
topography itself, the architectural layout of the building and the collections
it will include. This musealization proposal has been carried out thanks to the
participation of specialists from several different research fields, leading to an
interesting museographic proposal. Several professionals in the Conservation
and Restoration department of UPV, historians from the Prehistory Museum
[Dr. Elena Bonet, Dr. Carlos Ferrer and Dr. Jaime Vives], the Museum of
Ethnology in Valencia [Dr. Joan Kept, and Dr. Josep Aguilar], as well as
people associated with the Casa de la Senyoria [Ferrán Zurriaga] have
