Where can I download the latest versions of ConEx?
In this webpage there's a "Downloads" section where you can download the latest versions of ConEx.
How do I install the addon?
First of all, you have to download and unpack the desired extension.
If you are using Chrome or a Chrome based browser, open the browser menu and go to "More tools", "Extensions". Once in the Extensions window, check the box for Developer mode in the top right. Click the "Load unpacked extension" and select the unzipped folder for the extension to install it.
If you are using Firefox or a Firefox based browser, open the browser menu and go to "Add-ons". Once in the Add-ons window, click the gear button
located on the top right and select "Debug add-ons". A new tab will be opened. In the new tab, click the button "Load Temporary Add-on" and select the unzipped folder for the extension to install it.
What's ConEx for?
Both tools have two main functionalities:
- Extract Content: It automatically extracts the main content of a webpage and displays it in the active tab of the browser.
- Toggle View: It swaps from the original webpage to the menu webpage and vice versa.
How do I use ConEx?
Once installed, you can browse on the Internet as usual. Then, when you want to extract the main content of a webpage, you can just press the "Extract Menu" button and the tool automatically will extract the menu. The menu will be displayed in the browser as any other webpage.
What browsers does ConEx support?
As it is a WebExtension, ConEx works with Firefox and Chrome based browsers. For instance, it works with Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, Vivaldi, Chromium, SeaMonkey, etc.
I've installed ConEx and in some pages it takes a long time to get the content. Is it normal?
Isolating the main content is not an easy task. If the page contains many elements it can take a while to extract the content. If you find some page that does not work with ConEx please let us know.
Who developed ConEx?
This software has been designed and implemented in the computer science labs of the UPV.
