The aim of
EXTREMAT research group at the Technical University of Valencia is the synthesis
and the study of the structural, vibrational, optical and electrical properties
of materials under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature.
As can be
observed in the research publications of the group, EXTREMAT has two
main research lines: 1) The study of binary, ternary
and quaternary compounds with interest in Electronics, Optoelectronics and Spintronics. 2) The study of minerals with interest in Geophysics
and Astrophysics.
Among the
studied materials we can find:
We have experience
with semiconductors like ZnO and ZnS.
We have experience with semiconductors of the CuBr family.
We have broad experience with different semiconductors
of this family like sesquioxides (Al2O3,
In2O3, Tl2O3 and Y2O3)
and layered compounds of tetrahedral coordination (InSe,
GaSe, GaS y GaTe).
Our group has experience in studying different
insulators and semiconductors of this family including oxides and sulphides with spinel-related structure (ZnAl2O4,
ZnCo2O4, ZnMn2O4, and CdIn2S4)
and chalcogenides with defect chalcopyrite and
related structures (CdAl2S4, CdGa2S4,
HgGa2S4, ZnGa2Se4, CdGa2Se4,
HgGa2Se4, and ZnGa2Te4).
