The town of Arcos de las Salinas has the saltworks which gives its name to the
municipality, of outstanding historical significance in Teruel, eighteenth century,
of outstanding historical significance in Teruel, whose existence dates from the
thir-teenth century. These saltworks of belonging Real, members of the Royal
Heritage of Aragon, were unique in their geographic area. Historically, salt
was a commodity of exchange trade, hence the importance kings gave it, as
Jaume I, until 1870, a period that coincides with the Ley del Desestanco de
la Sal, following which the state could negotiate selling salt mine property.
This assignment of exploitation arrived at mid-twentieth century, by the Ministry
of Industry, being sold in the 80s of the century to an individual property. At
present, the Salinas are deprecated, presenting a poor state of repair and
having undergone a process of heritage´s deactivation. It is an architec-tural
complex with dimensions of 61. 961 m2 and has the buildings necessary for
the manufacture of salt, and other of daily use, among which highlights a
Manor house, with adjacent rooms for the servants, as well as dispose of his
own hermitage, among other properties. As a privately owned today, material
wealth for the municipality is undermined by failing take charge of him. The
Exmo. Ayuntamiento of Arcos de las Salinas shows a growing interest in the
recovery of the same, as architectural heritage, due to the richness of the
architectural complex that counts and it also because repre-sents the identity
of the people. Therefore, in 2010, the entire area was declared a Cultural, in
