this time under the name “Traditional Mexican cuisine, community culture,
ancient and alive - The Michoacán paradigm” ,and other candidates presented
“the Mediterranean Diet”, involving Spain, Greece, Italy and Morocco, and
“the gastro-nomic meal of the French” by France. The new Intergovernmental
Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), accepted
the three proposals which became part of the Representative List of the Intangible
Cultural Heritage of Humanity Gastronomy Mexican, Mediterranean and
French. The approval of the three cases, it could mean the opening of UNESCO
heritage into new categories, or even the recognition of the arbitrariness
of the criteria used in 2005. An important aspect to assess would be if the
candidacy Mexican, would have approved in 2010, if the proposed French
and Mediterranean had not submitted, this reaffirm the latent occi-dentalist
vision that persists in this international organization whose ultimate goal is to
work as key agent protection and promotion of World Heritage.
