Methodology and main objective
Thus, the methodology to be applied aims the activation of contemporary mural
painting heritage, with special interest in the integration of the local population
and vulnerable groups, focusing each action on a targeted audience. We
propose a new way of approaching the knowledge-management intervention
of natural-cultural heritage integrating the different social agents who share
these murals spaces. These circumstances have determined the need to
address the research from a socio-historical and anthropological focus, which
in turn has influenced the methodology used, based on the foundations of
participatory action research (PAR).
The main objective of the first phase of our research has been to identify the
mural works and its natural environment, inventorying them. Moreover we
have collected some data from public surveys and we are developing some
semi-structured interviews with the groups linked to the university, artists,
cultural and tourism sectors in order to study, preserve and enhance these
areas, developing a comprehensive study of the different present Uruguayan
muralism movements to promote a sustainable natural-cultural tourism by
creating different museum circuit proposals in order to facilitate the access to
the knowledge of those assets that are meaningful to the community.
