Abstract
Every Thursday at the Door of the Apostles of Valencia’s Cathedral, at
noon sharp, the Court of the Waters (http://www.tribunaldelasaguas.com/
el%20tribunal.html) gathers in order to solve the water-related conflicts. It is
composed of eight trustees of the Irrigation Communities that water the plain of
Valencia, a land known as Vega de Valencia. The Turia River’s eight irrigation
canals lie on the right bank (Quart, Benácher and Faitanar, Mislata-Chirivella,

and in the Organic Law 5/1982, of July 1, of the Autonomous Statute of the
Valencian Community (BOE núm. 164, of July 10, 1982). It has been declared
World Heritage and a Cultural Heritage by means of Decree 73/2006, of
May 26, of the Valencian Council (DOGV núm. 5269, of May 30, 2006),
receiving therefore the highest protection and respect. The Decree states that
the Generalitat (regional government) will participate in the conservation of the
customary and traditional values of the Court; and that the General Directorate
