This question has been answered counting the number of times that the students who did not take the final exam sat in a certain position of the classroom. The study has been carried out separately for theory and laboratory lectures. Tables 1 and 2 show the results organized by rows of chairs. Observe that theory classrooms have 4 rows while laboratories have 5 rows. This is not a restriction, but a configuration that is standard in the UPV university , i.e., all classrooms are similar. In column Attendances, for each row of the classroom, column NA indicates the number of attendances of giving up students and column Total the total attendances of people who sat in this row. In column Volume, for each row, columns Total NA, Total Row, and Total columns indicate, respectively, the percentage of attendances of students who did not take the exam over (i) the total amount of attendances of students who did not take the exam (considering all rows), (ii) those attendances of students that sat in that row, and (iii) the total of attendances. In the light of these results, we can statistically conclude that students who give up the course usually prefer to sit in the penultimate row, in both theory and practice. Statistically, nothing can be stated about the last row. However, there is a clear tendency to sit in the last rows of the laboratory. We (subjectively) think that this can be due to the freedom of using the computer to access other subjects, social networks, email, etc.
